Milan during Salone del Mobile is one of those places. Stepping into this international design fair is like entering a living, breathing manifesto of innovation, elegance, and bold vision. For me, this year’s visit was more than an industry event; it was a journey back to the essence of why I create. Wandering through the installations, exhibitions, and carefully curated showrooms across the city, I was reminded that design is not simply about objects or spaces , it's about emotion. It’s about how people move through a room, touch a surface, sit, gather, or pause. And most of all, it’s about how beauty and purpose can coexist harmoniously. Milan: The City Where Ideas Are Sculpted Milan has long been a city of intersections, of old and new, of craftsmanship and technology, of restraint and exuberance. At Salone del Mobile, that contrast becomes a vibrant dialogue. This year, I found myself captivated by the blurred boundaries between furniture as art and art as function. Chairs that stood like sculptures. Tables with the poetry of paintings. Light fixtures that transcended illumination to become spatial gestures. Each piece whispered a story — of the hand that designed it, the materials chosen, and the intent behind the form. In particular, I was moved by the way materiality is being reimagined. Designers are not just selecting finishes; they’re composing textures. Wood, metal, glass, textiles — each treated with reverence, each pushed beyond the conventional. There’s a tactility to... --- ### Shared Spaces, Singular Voices: The Abstracts in Dulwich Festival - Published: 2025-05-23 - Modified: 2025-05-26 - URL: https://nataliartist.com/shared-spaces-singular-voices-the-abstracts-in-dulwich-festival/ - Categories: Art & Culture, Artists Opens' Houses, Dulwich Festival, Exhibitions - Tags: Architecture, Art, Art Exhibition, Artists Opens' Houses, Community, Creativity, Dulwich Festival, London, NGA 10-11 May & 17-18 May at FLAT A 12 BERWYN ROAD SE24 9BD For two vibrant weekends in May, Dulwich came alive with creativity, and we were honoured to be part of it. As The Abstracts, I had the pleasure of sharing this incredible event with two wonderful artists and dear friends, Rosella Garavaglia and Mark Coster, as part of the much-loved Artists’ Open Houses. Over the course of these two weekends, our exhibition space became more than just a gallery. It was filled with colour, conversation, laughter, and the quiet moments that remind us why art matters. Visitors were drawn into the unique energy between our works, Rosella’s emotional intensity, Mark’s architectural, sculptural forms, and my own' symbolicals painting, created a dialogue that felt both powerful and playful. We often hear people say, “You’re all so different, yet you fit together perfectly. ” That’s the magic of The Abstracts. The response from the community was brilliant. We met people who were seeing our work for the first time, as well as familiar faces who returned with friends or family. There were meaningful conversations, spontaneous connections, and moments of inspiration shared between artists and visitors alike. Some called our exhibition their highlight of the Open House trail, and we don’t take that lightly. As the final day came to a close, we felt a mix of emotions: a little sadness that it was ending, but mostly deep gratitude. Grateful to have been part of such a beautiful and supportive creative community. When faced with trauma, frustration, and the overwhelming knots in my stomach, I found refuge in the canvas. Painting became more than just an artistic pursuit,it became a necessity, a way to navigate my emotions and untangle the complexities within me. The Language of Paint There are moments when words fail. When the weight of past experiences, unspoken grief, abuse and deep-seated anger become too heavy, expressing them verbally feels impossible. That is where painting steps in. The strokes of a brush, the raw energy of color, and the unfiltered motion of my hands allow me to say what I cannot articulate in words. Through painting, I have learned to externalize my pain rather than let it consume me. From Chaos to Clarity At the height of my emotional turmoil, I noticed a physical sensation,a tightness in my stomach, a deep knot of anxiety and frustration. I didn’t realize at the time that this was my body storing the pain I had yet to release. When I picked up a brush and let go of control, allowing myself to paint freely, those knots began to loosen. Each brushstroke acted like a release valve, channeling my emotions outward instead of keeping them locked inside. What started as chaotic bursts of color gradually transformed into patterns of clarity and peace. Unlocking Blockages Through Creativity So many of us experience emotional... --- ### Online workshop: Using Instagram For Your Creative Business, Workshop with Helen Manchip - Published: 2025-02-20 - Modified: 2025-02-24 - URL: https://nataliartist.com/online-workshop-using-instagram-for-your-creative-business-workshop-with-helen-manchip/ - Categories: Creations Atelier, Events, Online Workshop - Tags: Creations Atelier, Helen Manchip, Instagram, Natalia Giaocomino, online, workshop Wednesday, 26th February 2025, 1:30 PM (GMT) In this workshop, social media expert Helen Manchip will explore why Instagram is an essential tool for businesses, especially for creative entrepreneurs, makers, and service-based brands. Here, creativity dances with passion, and art flows like an unstoppable river of emotions. In this delightful article, we pull back the curtain on the musings, inspirations, and creative compulsions of a woman who wears many hats: artist, architect, mother, runner, triathlon athlete, and businesswoman. Let’s dive in! Where I Get Inspiration Inspiration is everywhere! It’s like a hidden treasure, waiting to be discovered. For me, it emerges from exhibitions, the work of fellow artists, theaters, shows, anything that breathes life into the realm of art. I’m inspired by the world around me, the vibrancy of human interactions, and the unseen forces that shape our experiences. Energy is my compass. People may say what they want, but the energy around them speaks volumes and it never lies. Why I Need to Paint and Am I Stuck? Painting isn’t just an activity; it’s a necessity. Sometimes, I don’t feel the need to paint at all,it’s like journaling. Just as a diary captures thoughts and emotions, my canvases hold my inner dialogue. Painting allows me to check in with myself to ask, “Am I happy? Angry? Aligned with my true self? ” It’s a constant, evolving conversation. I’ve been painting since I was very young. At 17, I was sketching portraits of my classmates, but my heart has always leaned toward abstraction. Emotions, especially sadness, find a way to pour out onto my canvases, creating intensity that can be felt... Never let someone else’s ego push you down. These are lessons learned through experience, and I’m here to share my story—not just to inspire but to empower you to take control of your own narrative. The Beginning: A Global Journey of Learning My journey started on the other side of the world—in China, where I spent three years honing my craft and expanding my perspective. Working in such a dynamic environment gave me a deep appreciation for the diversity of architectural styles and the importance of cultural context in design. From the bustling streets of Shanghai to the tranquil landscapes of rural China, each project was a learning experience that broadened my understanding of architecture’s potential to transform lives. After my time in China, I moved to London, a city where tradition meets innovation. Here, I had the privilege of working for several prestigious firms, including one of the top 50 architectural practices in the world. These opportunities allowed me to collaborate on groundbreaking projects and learn from some of the brightest minds in the industry. The experience was intense, demanding, and incredibly rewarding. It shaped me into the professional I am today, with a global outlook and a deep well of experience to draw from. The Warning Signs: A Toxic Environment Despite the impressive resume and the exciting projects, I couldn’t ignore the signs of a toxic environment when they began to appear. It became clear that something... --- ### Evening Art Exhibition - Published: 2024-04-16 - Modified: 2025-02-24 - URL: https://nataliartist.com/evening-art-exhibition/ - Categories: Exhibitions - Tags: Architecture, Art, Art Exhibition, BohemianSalon, Community, Creativity, London, NGA Exciting event ahead!
